Welcoming New Trustees

NEW EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TO LEAD ST. JOSEPH’S PREP BOARD OF TRUSTEES;
THREE NEW MEMBERS JOIN THE BOARD

The St. Joseph’s Preparatory School Board of Trustees announces the following members who will serve as elected officers of the Board for 2023-24.

  • Carol F. McCabe, Esq. P ’20, ’22 ’26, Vice Chair 
  • John Figge P ’18, ’20, ’23, Secretary
The Board also welcomed three new members.

John P. Dawley P ’25: Mr. Dawley has spent his career dedicated to supporting the growth of technology/services companies in the life sciences field. Since 2009, he has worked for Veeva Systems in Pleasanton, Calif., a global leader in cloud software. As the first Vice President for Sales, he helped build the sales organization as the company grew from $10m to $1b in sales. He continues to work as an advisor to the company, offering guidance for a select group of sales managers. Dawley holds a bachelor’s degree from Providence College where he serves as Trustee. He and his wife, Abby, are the parents of Christian, a current Prep junior.


W. Nicholas Howley III ’70: Mr. Howley is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Transdigm Group, Inc., a NY Stock Exchange-listed company and one of the largest  global designer, producer and supplier of aircraft components, systems and subsystems. He is also co-founder and chairman of Perimeter Solutions – also a NY Stock Exchange listed company and the largest supplier of wildfire fighting chemicals and services in the world. He and his wife, Lorie, founded The Howley Foundation with a mission based on their belief that the best way to create social and economic mobility and improve lives is to provide quality educational opportunities. Today, the Howley Foundation provides scholarships to 900 deserving students who demonstrate economic need and  a high level of academic excellence. Through their Foundation, the Howleys are significant supporters of the Prep providing scholarships to 40 students and donating over $5 million to the For Others Forever Campaign. In recognition of their generosity, the Prep has named The Howley Learning Commons in their honor. Mr Howley graduated from Drexel University  (BS in Engineering) and Harvard Graduate School (MBA). He has a broad range of non-profit education board experience at both the high school and university level – including most recently chairman of the national Cristo Rey Network of 40 Catholic schools. He is also on the board of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Sherman Washington ’05: Mr. Washington has worked for Merck & Co., since graduating from Saint Joseph’s University. He is currently Biotechnician Group Leader for RotaTeq, a vaccine that works to prevent rotavirus gastroenteritis in infants and children. A proud Prep graduate, Washington received the Rev. Charles A. Schnorr Award and the Bakari Trailblazer Award for his work as one of the organizers of the African American Alumni Association (A4), which mentors students of color as well as connecting to alumni. A recipient of KYW’s Game Changer Award, Washington is an active Board Member of the Athletic Club of Fairhill, bringing soccer to students of color and other children in the city.
